Description
Why can't I just use a normal rivet from my local hardware store? Although you can do this, automotive rivets are made for specific applications and tolerances. Hardware store rivets may loosen over time creating increased and unnecessary wear. Peel type rivets have a unique setting action for joining plastic window guides to the door glass. On setting, the body splits into four petals, similar to the peeling action of a banana, withstanding high pull-out loads. Rivets are made of aluminum 3.5% magnesium alloy with carbon steel mandrels. Used in the specific joining of soft or friable materials. Why risk unnecessary problems for the savings of a few cents?
