The clutch spring has two purposes in your F-Body, which are to assist in counter-acting the spring tensions in the pressure plate diaphragm when you depress the clutch pedal, and to act as a return spring and hold the clutch pedal against the stop whne the pedal is not depressed so that the throwout bearing is not resting on the diaphragm fingers.
