The outer tie rod end is a critical component to your 1955, 1956, or 1957 Chevrolet's steering system. It connects to the spindle or steering arm, and has a tapered stud that is assembled in threading into the inner tie rod, or adjustment sleeve. When you steer in your Chevy, the outer tie rod's stud pivots in order for the spindle or steering arm to be able to rotate. Through rest or breaking from excessive use, you'll need to replace your outer tie rod eventually in order to maintain a proper steering system.
