With classic trucks, the conversion to disc brakes is an ever-popular channel towards customization. There are many distinct advantages of disc brakes over drum brakes. Disc brakes have significantly more stopping power and, therefore, they recover more rapidly from immersion and are less disposed to to “brake fade.” Drum brakes are susceptible to to “bell mouthing” and a servo-effect, but with disc brakes, the stopping power is always proportional to the pressure applied. These advantageous characteristics of disc brakes make them a desirable upgrade from the original stock axle
