A Chevy truck's blower motor resistor is a little fiberglass board that utilizes a series of progressive resistors to regulate the motors speed throughout the switch range. The highest speed of the heater blower motor is not controlled by the resistor; so when the resistor fails, the fan will often only work on the highest speed setting.
