Features, Description, Q&A
While many may not be aware, the sending unit of your 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, or 1981 Firebird’s gas tank is located in the fuel tank, where a float made of foam is connected to a thin metal rod. The end of this rod is mounted to a resistor which indicated fuel level. In the sending unit, the fuel has to drop below a certain level before the float starts to drop, to indicate a low amount of fuel left in the car. The sending unit of your gas tank can become faulty or misaligned, which would affect the gas gauge in your car, giving you a misrepresentation of how much gas you have left. Eckler’s Firebird offers this new reproduction gas tank sending unit, matching factory specifications and replacing your original sending unit. This reproduction fits Firebirds without air conditionin
