If you wish to adapt a Ford C4 transmission to a 1949-1953 Ford 8BA or 8CM Mercury Flathead V8 engines without integral bellhousing, this adapter kit is what you need. C4s were manufactured with two different case styles: The early stepped case and the late flared case. The early case was available with the small (157 tooth) or large (164 tooth) flywheel. The easiest way to determine if your trans uses the small or large flywheel is to measure from the lower block mounting hole on the driver's side of the bellhousing to the top starter bolt hole on the passenger's side of the bellhousing. Early C4s measure 16-7/8", while later ones measure 17-3/8". This kit includes: starter nose cone, flexplate, bellhousing adapter and instructions.
