This 6.45-inch deep bell housing is designed to fit the 1955 to 1957 Chevy with a mechanical linkage. Will fit 168-tooth flywheel with 11-inch clutch. Fits Muncie, BWT10, Tremec TKO, and TXK transmissions, and more. Block plate, frame mounts, and Grade 8 hardware included. Other applications are available.
Lakewood safety bell housings are designed for maximum performance and durability. They are laser cut to improve the speed and accuracy of manufacturing. They are roto-brated after welding and hydro-formed to relieve any stress created during manufacturing. They are S.F.I. 6.1 certified. Durable powder-coated finish for years of corrosion-free service.
OEM starters are recommended for ease of fitment. It is very important that the tooth count (153 or 168) of the starter match the tooth count of the flywheel to ensure proper engagement. Two primary options: a 12 3/4-inch flywheel (153 teeth) where the nose cone will have two attachment bolt holes across from each other (inline) and a 14-inch flywheel (168 teeth) where the attachment bolt holes will be offset (diagonal). This applies mainly to factory GM starters on passenger cars/light trucks and does not apply to later model versions (w/ gear reduction) or aftermarket and mini starters. Be sure to match your clutch to your flywheel as well.
