The factory processes were limited by technology in 1956. Paint was the best option they had for the recesses in the Bel Air paint dividers. It looked great when new but quickly faded and flaked off with normal use. For restorers it is difficult to get a clean consistent finish in these areas, and their efforts frequently don''t hold up either. Eckler''s has a great solution with these Mylar self-adhesive inserts. They are inexpensive, easy to install, and hold up great. We also have something the factory didn''t - assorted colors (see our related items for these). Simply clean the area with a non-oily solvent and paste them in. That''s it!
