This kit is based on a rear steer center take-off style rack & pinion, as are the majority of our kits, but this one is specific to these Thunderbirds. The rack & pinion is mounted to a one piece mounting bracket which bolts to the frame using the same holes for the steering box and the idler arm on the passenger side.
The UniSteer kit was designed to go on a Thunderbird with stock suspension and 272, 292, and 312 motors. Let us know and we can modify the kit to fit popular small block motors, like the 289, 302, and 351 before shipping . Install was done on a vehicle with stock exhaust manifolds. Headers may work, but might need modification.
